R2-D2 - "Endless descriptors for this wine: sweet, carmelized sugar, cotton candy, chalky fruit, earth, and bay leaves. How could I forget about the aromatics: olives, beef broth and fruitcake. Layers and layers of mouthcoating fun. Yet, as joe mentioned, very graceful for such a big wine. My WOTN, the best Syrah I've ever had and one of the top 10 wines I've ever had. 96"
Joe Wu - "The nose had an unreal concentration of soy sauce, bacon fat, smoke, red plums, and oak with a depth that was staggering. First sip showed a tight wine with a decent amount of acidity and reticent red fruit, more smoke, and medium fine grain tannins. As the wine warmed up from cellar temp and had a chance to aerate, glorious, glorious perfumed fruit wafted from the stem and the wine transformed into an absolute beauty. Near perfect weight in the mouth, solid, but never chunky, the tannins smoothed out and became a velvet blanket that coated the mouth. By all means, this is a big wine, but it is not over the top, it is not a "freak show" of a wine. It actually posses balance and grace and a voluptuous nature that is flat out jaw-dropping. Outstanding!"
Otis - "Dark purple color. Enticing and unique nose of circus peanuts, bay leaf, and roses in full bloom. Lots of high-toned raspberry and sweet fruit flavor, but not overdone. It retains a noble elegance and focus to match its formidable concentration. Long finish. Surprisingly approachable. Outstanding! 94-95P."
